The Course

Stourbridge Golf Club is a challenging 18 hole course that is playable all year round with excellent drainage. Having been built on sand, the course is invariably open when many other courses will be closed. We don't have temporary greens and we play off all of our normal teeing areas every day of the year.

Our tree lined fairways mean that every discerning golfer needs to carefully choose the golf club to do the job and our greens have a number of hidden borrows that also need careful consideration when on any of the putting surfaces.
Our closing hole comes in front of our fabulous clubhouse patio completing your round and allowing for easy access to our facilities.

Our signature hole is now the 4th - a par 4 with a stroke index of 1 for the Men and a par 5 with a stroke index of 13 for the Ladies. The hole slightly dog legs left and anything sent right side of the fairway will catch one of two bunkers. As you get to the green, there are several bunkers right in front of the green so anything short will again find sand.

Our par 3's are some of the best in the region with the 12th hole needing the correct club selection as at 201 yards from the stone, anything falling short of the green will find trouble.

The precise date that Stourbridge Golf Club was formed is not clear due to the loss of the earliest records however the first surviving minutes of a meeting held at the Club refers to 1892. At this time it was a nine hole course built on the old Pedmore Racecourse. Later becoming 18 holes in 1909, it is a very good test of golf even for the professional golfer - stray off the fairways at your peril. The basic outline of the course remains today, measuring 6151 yards with a standard scratch score of 70 for men and 73 for ladies.

Course History

Formed in 1892, the club was originally a racecourse and farmland. Over the past 133 years, we continue to evolve and we are now blessed with a fantastic challenging 18 hole beauty. If you have never played here, it is a treat - not an easy treat either with 59 bunkers and tree lined fairways. You'll also find two distinct types of golf course within one - both parkland and heathland.

The course drains well and is playable all year round.
